Outreach
Zion church has in past years proudly helped the community with outreach programs.
Now that we have merged into Faith Lutheran Church, our focus will be:
- Meals for Neighbors – This ministry had been Zion’s focus ministry and will continue to be Faith Lutheran’s primary outreach. Since 1982 , this ministry has distributed groceries and hot meals at no cost to households struggling with food insecurity in the greater Bristol area. Hot meals are prepared and served in our Soup Kitchen by dedicated volunteers three nights per week (Monday-Wednesday at 4:30pm). Anyone may come and eat free, with no conditions. We also offer a choice Food Pantry set up like a small grocery store, where our clients decide what is best for their families and “shop” accordingly. Our food pantry is open for in-person shopping three mornings per week (Tuesday-Thursday at 10am). Our pantry is operated by local volunteers, and we enjoy significant support from the community through food rescue at local grocery stores. We are a designated CT Food Share distribution site.
- Clothing drive – We no longer offer second-hand clothing at our Judd Street facility. Please do not drop off clothing donations at this location. We do, however, accept clothing donations at our St. Pauly Shed, located at Faith Lutheran Church, 1125 Stafford Ave., Bristol, CT.
